Episode Description

The best estimate is that there are 7 quintillian, 500 quadrillion grains of sand on the world’s beaches.  It may seem like an endless number, but what is happening now that they are disappearing?  And where are they going?  Legal and illegal mining and erosion are all to blame.  Sharing his book “The World in a Grain,” Vince Beiser is discussing the importance of this diminishing natural resource.
