 Dr. Risk’s Thoughts

I started doing yoga when I was 21.  With undiagnosed Lyme, I was in a tremendous amount of pain, and spent most of my day suffering from it.  I started taking yoga classes, and when I went through school, developed a short routine I did every morning.  Without my daily yoga, I was unable to sit through a lecture without being incredibly uncomfortable.  I often wonder how people get through their days when they aren’t embracing something like yoga, tai chi or qi gong that can slowly help them recover strength, mobility and balance.  I will always remember a patient who was resistant to try tai chi, then found it changed his life and he ended up going three times a week.  There is so much available to us, we just need to be open.  Yoga can also help to slow you down, be aware and be calm.
